As a Garment Technologist at fast fashion British retailer River Island in London, UK, I worked on the fit, construction and quality of all ladies denim, which included jeans, skirts, tops, dresses and jackets. Working closely with the Buyers, Designers and Merchandisers, I gained experience working on trends such as highly embellished, ripped, printed, coated and acid dyed denim.
As the Production Coordinator and Distributor at luxury childrenswear brand Elias & Grace in London, UK, I worked on their in-house brand Miller. The brand was so small that it consisted of 1 Buyer, 1 Designer and myself. So I was put in charge of ensuring the fit and quality of all incoming production, liaising with overseas factories and wholesale clients as well as distributing all Miller product.
In pursuit of my interest to work for brands I am passionate about, I did an internship at Karen Walker head office in Auckland, New Zealand, as Production Assistant. I worked with the pattern makers, created CAD drawings for their line sheets, created inspiration boards for the new collection as well as managed production stock.
As a Production Assistant at Brigid McLaughlin head office in Sydney, Australia, I got my hands in every pot at this “slow fashion”, sustainable brand. I designed scarves, created inspiration boards, specification sheets and costing sheets. I performed in-house fabric testing, assisted in fittings and communicated with overseas factories. I performed quality control, created line sheets, and enhanced the brand’s online presence by designing attractive ads and photoshopped product images.
Project BULA SWIM:
In my spare time, I designed this swimwear collection with custom printed fabrics and accessories, by taking inspiration from the flight of the flamingo native to Curacao.
Ceramic jewelry made by Tiana Tucker.
TIES:
I designed this collection of ties to push the norm on traditional fabrics used, layering fabrics to create new aesthetics.
